One of the advantages is this type of bouquet can be made the day before hand and the flower stems placed in a container of water. The same type of flowers can be used together such as roses or a variety of different flowers. If desired, leaves or pieces of foliage such can be placed around the edges. MATERIALS Choose suitable materials - you will need flowers with fairly long stems such as roses, irises, carnations, alstroemeria, freesias, Singapore orchids and lisianthus. Suitable foliage such as camellia leaves, eucalyptus gum, box, ivy, nandina and leather fern. If using different coloured flowers make sure they are evenly distributed throughout the bouquet. A mixed bouquet looks best using three to four varieties of flowers plus foliage. METHOD Cut the ends of the stems on a slant and give flowers a long drink. Remove thorns and strip off the lower foliage from the bottom half of the stems. It is important to remove thorns as they may prick someone or tear a dress. They can be removed with a rose stripper which can be found at florist suppliers or by running a pair of scissors with the blade open along the stem. Lay the flowers out on the table. Start off with the largest flower to form the centre and hold the stem between the thumb and first finger on the left hand about 15-20cm (6-8") from the base of the flower head. With the right hand add about 4- 6 clusters of foliage evenly around just below the flower heads to help fill in, criss crossing the stems on an angle and turning the bouquet around as you work. Secure the stems in position by placing the end of a piece of string and winding it around a couple of times. Do not cut the string. Holding the bouquet in the same way as before with the thumb facing towards you place 5-6 of the same type of flowers evenly around turning the bouquet around clockwise. Secure all the stems in place with a couple of twists of string in the same place as before. Continue adding flowers in the next round extending these flowers out slightly further. Check the finished bouquet side on as this is how it will often be seen, specially in the church. Keep the bouquet a gentle rounded shape across the top like an upside down saucer. Criss cross all the stems and give the bouquet a quarter turn clockwise after adding a few stems. Secure stems in position with string in the same place as before when necessary. Continue adding flowers and foliage stems turning the bouquet around clockwise until the bouquet is the desired size. Place wired leaves such as camellia or ivy or pieces of foliage such as leather fern around the edges having the tips extend out about 5-7.5cm (2-3") past the edges of the flowers. Secure all the stems together with string winding it firmly around several times in the same place as before, cut the string and tuck the end in. Cut the ends off the flower and foliage stems so they are about 6-8"(15-20cm) long and all the same level. Spray the bouquet lightly with water. Finish off the bouquet by tying a piece of wide ribbon around the bouquet to cover the string and tie the ribbon in a shoe lace bow with long tails. Cut the ribbon ends on a slant. Place the stems in a container of water until just before the wedding. The great thing about San Francisco is that while your teen may swing in vicious cycles between being a child and thinking he or she is grown, there is quite a lot that will appeal to both sides of your teen's personality. Fisherman's Wharf is probably my favorite San Francisco destination. Pier 39 offers a great number of attractions for teens. From Frequent Flyers where your teen can experience the feeling of being air born to the Riptide Arcade, with shopping, sea lions, and entertainers in between there is a lot that this area has to offer the teen in your family. You can also rent a kayak and let your teen do the navigating, if you're really brave that is. Another attraction at Fisherman's Wharf that your teen might find more enjoyable than anyone else in the family is the Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum. I think even a teenagers won't find trolley tours beneath them. In fact, your teenager might have a great deal of fun taking one of these tours as well as accidentally learning some small nugget of information about San Francisco history that will stay with them long after the vacation is over. If you feel up for a ride, you might consider taking your teen to Paramount's Great America in San Jose. In fact, this is a trip that the entire family might enjoy. Little kids can enjoy the Nickelodeon characters and the rides that are designed especially with them in mind. Teens and adults can enjoy some of the more thrilling rides created for the adrenaline junkies in your life. Your teen might get a kick out of a trip to the Wax Museum at Fisherman's Wharf. This museum offers realistic recreations of people, events, and horrors beyond imagination-well my imagination. This is definitely one of the more interesting destinations in San Francisco. Take a walk through history or onto the set of the latest horror movie. It all seems so real and the characters so life like. Your teen may really enjoy one of the Alcatraz tours. You may also wish to combine a tour to Angel Island with your trip to Alcatraz. Angel Island also has a rich history as well as some breathtaking views and great trails for hiking and biking. You could also consider making a day of your trip to Angel Island, especially if your teen enjoys either of these activities. And then there's the shopping, a favorite pastime for teen girls and a potential bonding experience for mothers and daughters. Conversely, men can bond with teenaged sons and/or daughters over a nice sports game. The bay area offers many options for sports lovers. No matter what your teenagers tastes at the moment, I have no doubt that you will find something in this great city that you can all agree on. This week, my gym is flooded with new faces. It's that post-New Years craze that sends everyone to the gyms to try and fulfill that elusive but always primary goal of the New Year: lose weight and get into shape. I watched one new member make her way around through the jungle of strength training equipment last night. She moved from machine to machine doing one set here, two sets there, five repetitions here, twenty there. No rhyme or reason to it, no paper and pencil in hand, it just appeared another random attempt at a workout. What if there was a simple, straightforward way of taking a workout and figuring out exactly what should be in it? There is it's called the 5 Rs principle. The 5 Rs Principle can help beginning exercisers figure out what exactly goes into an effective workout. Each `R'focuses on an important element of an exercise routine that forces the beginner to look at their workouts in a holistic fashion. RANGE of motion Range of motion refers to how the capability of a joint to move through a prescribed set of movements. In order for a beginner to see results, each exercise should be performed from a fully stretched position of the muscle to a fully contracted position. An example: I see a lot of beginners (and people who have been around the gym long enough to know better) load up the EZ-curl bar for preacher curls and perform the exercise only lowering the bar halfway down on the eccentric portion of the exercise. Not only can this cause injury to the bicep muscle, it also doesn't work the muscle the best way possible and limits the results of the exercise. You'll hear the term `range of motion' often in reference to joint health and mobility. This is no exception in the gym. Your joints are supported by large and small muscles. In order to optimize your joint health, all the muscles surrounding the joints must be worked as well. RESISTANCE When you're just starting to lift weights, how much weight to use is a huge issue. It's unfortunate that many personal trainers will tell women to use a lighter weight so that they will "tone up" and not get bulky. This is probably the biggest myth in all of weight lifting? women who lift heavy weights will not get bulky. Don't believe anyone who tells you this! Choose a weight that allows you to complete the exercise without sacrificing proper form but that is heavy enough that you cannot possibly perform another repetition at the end of your prescribed set of repetitions. REPETITIONS Another huge variable for beginning exercisers is how many repetitions to perform. Performing certain repetitions will indeed produce highly specific results. In general, low repetitions (3-8) produce greater absolute strength, medium repetitions (10-20) produce anaerobic strength endurance, and high repetitions (20-40) produce aerobic strength endurance. Now, an ideal beginner routine will probably include sets of medium repetitions, just to allow the exerciser to learn to perform the exercise correctly, with proper form and technique and to allow her to experiment with experiencing muscle fatigue at 12-15 repetitions. As she progresses, she can experiment with different set/rep schemes customized to individual goals. An important note is that in order to achieve the results desired from performing a certain number of repetitions is that muscular failure must be achieved within the repetition ranges above. Muscular failure means that you can't possibly push out one more repetition no matter how hard you're trying to do it. REST In general, your body needs between two to four minutes of rest between sets to prepare itself to perform another set at maximum capacity. Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and phosphocreatine (PC) are used by your muscle cells to contract during a weight lifting exercise. Your body needs time to regenerate these two compounds before it is ready to go again. Unless you're trying to develop all-out absolute strength by performing low repetitions with very heavy weight, you're probably not going to need to wait that long between sets. Most beginners will be working within a medium repetition range and therefore do not need to wait that long between sets. One to two minutes is fine. RECOVERY You will not see faster or better results by working the same muscle groups day after day. As important as hard work is, recovery between workouts is even more important. Beginners should work the same muscle groups no more than two times per week, with at least forty - eight hours break between sessions. As an exerciser becomes more advanced, she will probably cut back to working each muscle group once every seven days or so.

Bankruptcy help 5 things you can do after bankrupcy

One of the issues that people considering bankruptcy often worry about is that they will never get credit after filing a Chapter 7 or Chapter 13. That, or the fact that the bankruptcy will stay in their credit report for 10 years from the filing, which fact would serve as warning to future creditors that you might turn out to be a bad risk. But neither is true, however. While a bankruptcy will indeed stay in your credit report for ten years, it does not necessarily mean that you can no longer get new credit. Furthermore, only a Chapter 7 bankrupcy will stay in your credit report within 10 years. If you filed under Chapter 13, the period is shorter – about five to seven years. Worst case scenario: You can get a new loan but with high interest rates or fees. Now, that’s not so bad, is it? Especially after considering that even people with good credit can get bad loan deals. The fact remains that no matter how bad or good your credit line, it is not a guarantee that you are going to get approved for a loan or get low interest rates. In other words, a bankruptcy may damage your credit but only to an extent. It does not necessarily mean that you will never qualify for a new credit. What damage there is, you can always rebuild. And that is what you should be focusing on, instead of wallowing in the pits of Credit Doom. #1 CAN DO: Keep a Credit Card out of the Bankruptcy When filing for bankruptcy, the rule is that you have to make a schedule. A schedule is a list of all assets and liabilities that you are required under the law to disclose before a bankruptcy case could commence. If you owe money on a credit card at the time you file for bankruptcy, you have to include that in the schedule. Otherwise, you may be sued for perjury and penalized under federal law. What’s worse, if you fail to disclose unpaid credits like this, you may be denied discharge of all your debts. The rule, however, only applies to unpaid credits. So if you do not owe any money on your credit card, then you can go ahead and keep that one out of the bankruptcy. You are not obliged to inform the credit card company of the bankrupcy case. Note, however, that your credit card company may still find out about it through other means and cancel your card as a precaution. If your credit card company gives you notice of cancellation of your credit card, don’t give up yet. Many credit card companies allow their credit card holders who are filing for bankruptcy to keep their credit card on condition that they agree to reaffirm the balance on the card and enter into a new agreement. Try to re-negotiate the terms with your credit card company and see if you can settle for a situation that is beneficial for both you and the company. While the decision is up to the creditors, keep in mind that what they want is to avoid the loss incurred when the debt is discharged and to have your future business. #2 Get New Credit after Bankruptcy If there is one thing you can count on in today’s competitive lending environment, it is that credit is always available, even to the recently bankrupt. The catch? Credit may be more expensive than before and available with lower limits. But all that is secondary only to the fact that credit does exist and you can get it. One of the easiest credits available to the recently bankrupt is a secured credit card. As opposed to an unsecured credit card, in a secured card, you must make a deposit of a certain amount of money in exchange for a card that you can use just like a regular credit card. Your credit limit is equivalent to the cash deposit you made. Now, the good thing about a secured credit card is that it is usually available post bankruptcy at lower rates than unsecured cards. What’s more, the fact that these credit cards are secured are not often indicated in your credit report so creditors have no way of knowing whether your credit card is secured or not. All they will see is that you have been approved for a credit card, which ups your credit score a bit and puts you back in the game fairly quickly. Note, however, that credit experts are not quite in agreement concerning the impact of secured credit cards on your credit rating. So if you do decide to open a secured credit card post bankruptcy, be sure to do it slow.? While your rush at rebuilding your credit is understandable, making mistakes that could significantly affect your credit score like this is not worth it. Rebuilding your credit worthiness after bankruptcy is a matter of getting a toe-hold in the world of credit. The balance is often precarious and needs delicate treatment. Use credit cautiously and pay on time. #3 Buy a House after Bankruptcy Absolutely. In fact, there are many studies that show bankruptcy debtors can qualify for a home loan on the same terms as if they had not filed bankruptcy within 18 to 24 months after a bankruptcy discharge. You see, what the creditors are concerned here is not your past financial troubles but your current financial status – e. g., your down payment, the stability of your income and the relationship between the loan payments and your monthly income. That said, take note of the following things that you might want to do in preparation for your first house purchase post bankrupcy: • When purchasing a home after bankruptcy, the key is the discharge date, since there is usually a waiting period. If your loan was an FHA loan, you usually have a 2-year waiting period for that. For other conventional loans, the waiting period is four years. Now, during the waiting period, you need to do two things: re-establish at least 4 lines of credit (auto loans or credit cards, for example) and maintain an excellent payment history. • Make sure that there aren’t any delinquencies on your credit report that should have been cleared off with the bankruptcy. If you find any, contact your creditors immediately. Include a copy of your “Schedule of Creditors” in your letter so that your creditors can indicate the debt was included in the bankruptcy and update your credit report. • The more money you have in your savings or checking account, the better and stronger your file is going to look to a lender when you apply for a home loan. Remember that your ability to make a down payment bears great significance in your approval rating. If you have money in your savings account, your creditors will naturally conclude that you have the money to make a down payment. #4 Get New Wheels after Bankruptcy A common misconception people have after a bankruptcy is that getting new credit like a car loan is virtually impossible. Well, note that the word used is “virtually.” That is not the same as saying that you are certainly never going to qualify for a new car loan. Because the truth is you can and you should, if you need to. If you can get a house after bankruptcy, then there is all the more reason for you to be able to get a car. In fact, you can even start going through some dealerships as soon as your discharge papers are in. Just remember that the interest rates are not going to be cheap. Here are some tips to help you deal with that one tiny tangle: • Check with the Special Financing Department Most car dealerships have this special financing department that handles would-be car purchasers who are going through some financial trouble. Since these buyers would not be able to qualify for a conventional auto loan, some dealerships are willing to offer you a different deal to help you get that car you want and at the same time overcome the hurdle of credit after bankruptcy. • Credit Unions If you are a member of the credit union at your workplace, contact them and see if you can get a car loan through them. Often, credit unions offer lower interest rates than banks, which in addition to charging you higher interest rates, may also require you to deposit your paycheck directly with them. If your workplace does not have a credit union, your neighborhood may have one. Some are available to people based on organization or church affiliation, or even residence in a certain community. • Charities Not many people are aware of this but charities are actually a good place to look for inexpensive cars. You may have heard of charities that ask you to donate your working or non-working cars to them. In order to raise money, they repair these cars and sell them for a price that is significantly lower. Try those charities found in your neighborhood and see if they sell cars that are more along your price range. #5 Have a 700+ Credit Score Two Years after Discharge You might find this statement suspect, which is understandable really when you consider the many stories of how one bankruptcy can thoroughly damage the credit rating you’ve been building up for years. Expert after expert has said that new credit is near impossible to get after filing for a bankruptcy. However, in almost the same breath, the experts likewise say that it is not impossible to rebuild your credit worthiness after bankruptcy. And this is bolstered by the fact that you had good reason for the bankruptcy, such as unemployment, medical, business failure, etc, and that you immediately took steps re-establishing credit after receiving the discharge. So why then, despite complying with these two requirements, your credit score remains way below average? The answer lies in your credit report. Your credit report contains everything about your finances. All of the information contained in your credit report, when added up, result in your three-digit credit score. Hence, any errors in your credit report, such as a fraudulent credit line or a debt that remains even though it was supposed to be discharged after bankruptcy, can aversely affect your credit score. Common sense tells you that if you correct these errors and mistakes, you can improve your credit score. Also, some creditors make various inquiries into your credit report. This act could lower your credit score. What’s more, after a discharge, they are allowed to make only one inquiry into your credit report. After that, you are entitled to ask for $1,000 every time they look into your credit report. Make certain that your creditors are not making any more inquiries into your credit report. Write them a letter explaining that the debt has already been discharged. Include a copy of the discharge order as well as a copy of the 'Schedule of Creditors' from your bankruptcy papers as proof that the debts have already been discharged.

This is your year to master success

As the clock chimed midnight on the eve of 2007, I truly felt like doing a happy dance. Not just doing a happy dance, but doing it buck-naked, outside, in the cold, in the dark for all the neighbors to see if they happened to be out at that hour of the night. Although I did manage to contain myself from doing the buck-naked happy dance, I couldn’t contain my joy about entering into this new year. I heard a lot of people talk about what they wanted to do in 2006, I heard a lot of dreams about what life could look like one day, and most of all, I witnessed much preparation to the launching of some major vision work. That is all wonderful and if that excites you, you should join me in doing the 2007 happy dance because this year is all about completion. While 2006 was the year of positioning and execution, this is the year of fulfillment. No more talking, no more dreaming—this is the year of manifestation! This is the year you write that book, create that product, launch that business, write that screenplay or do whatever it is you are longing to bring forth. This is the year you begin to experience your vision. The last few years have been about preparation and readying yourself for what is to come. Well, put on your seat-belt—it’s HERE. Your time is now. 2007 is truly the year to THRIVE! While changing your habits to those that will fully support the success you desire is ongoing, there are several things you can do to continue moving to new levels the bring forth your completion this year. As you begin thriving, remember to incorporate the following steps into your daily routine: 1. Remember to pray and surrender to God daily (it is all too easy to get wrapped up in all that is going on in the world). Your prayer is the critical component to move you into fearlessness. 2. Become a master of time and energy management so you can enjoy the magic of completionmit to taking action everyday toward living your purpose and vision. No more excuses. You do have time to complete this important and life-changing work God has planted in you to bring forth. 3. Balance, balance, balance. Take some time every week to unwind and play a bit (this is going to be a tough one for me!). It’s easy to be so enthralled in your vision work, that you forget to just “hang-out.” 4. Focus. As your work gets out in the world, more people ask for time on your calendar. Remain focused so you don’t lose the momentum you have worked to create. 5. Remember that God is the source of your success and there is no such thing as working hard enough in a lifetime to achieve what God can give you in an instant (words from Thomas L. Pauley and Penelope J. Pauley’s book, I’m Rich Beyond My Wildest Dreams). This book reminded me that no matter how diligently I work, I cannot even come close to how God can bless me. I highly recommend this book—it really helped me to internalize this truth. Most of all, be grateful for all that you are and all that God has done, is doing and will do in your life. Discuss training as an important stage of growing up. 2) Make it fun – first and foremost, make this a game. Children will naturally resist anything which is not framed as a fun learning experience. Use play, music, toys, and stories as part of the experience to keep the child from getting bored or distracted. 3) Create a ritual – try to make the experience repeatable so your child knows what to expect each time and gets into the routine of sitting and staying on the potty. 4) Use props – use of books, toys, videos and music all help create an atmosphere of fun and enjoyment which is so essential. 5) Time it right – Try repeating the process every hour for 2 to 4 minutes. If you can do this close to times your child usually has a bowel movement or urination, such as just after a meal, even better. 6) Be prepared - If you are traveling or away from home, bring a folding, plastic adapter ring that fits onto an adult toilet seat is useful. Extra tissue and wipes will be useful in bathrooms that are short on supplies. 7) Give praise – give you child social praise for sitting on the potty patiently or for staying dry. If the potty routine is successful, consider some reward (e. g. special prize, book or foods) that are especially valued. 8) Show your child how to clean up - demonstrate how to wash hands and dry hands on a towel.
